The problem

Five quiet moments where dog parents run out of answers.

AuraDog is built around the conversations that happen between you, your dog, and your vet — and the gaps in between.

“He seems off, but I can't say how.”

Dogs don't describe symptoms. Gut feelings don't travel well to the vet.

Structured 3-dimension check-ins

Log breathing, water intake, and energy every morning in under 30 seconds. Turn fuzzy feelings into a timeline.

“Count his breaths for a minute.”

Counting respirations by eye is exhausting — and easy to miscount by 5–10 BPM.

Audio-assisted breathing check

Place your iPhone microphone near your resting dog in a quiet room. AuraDog estimates the breathing rate and saves the result for your timeline.

“Is 35 BPM too high for my dog?”

Generic thresholds ignore that every dog has a unique resting rate.

Personal baseline & dynamic bands

Your first measurement sets the baseline. Pro learns your dog's normal range over time and flags what is abnormal for them — not a generic textbook.

“Last vet visit is already a blur.”

Visit notes live on paper, in photos, or in your memory. Never in one place.

One printable source of truth

Vet visits, check-in history and abnormal breathing events get rolled into a multi-page PDF report — ready to hand over.

“Where does my dog's data go?”

Most pet apps upload everything to servers you'll never see.

On your iPhone, period.

No account. No cloud sync. Your dog health records stay on your iPhone — the only export path is the PDF you tap to share.

5 tabs · one quiet workflow

Built around the five things dog parents actually do.

AuraDog mirrors your routine: a morning glance, a 30-second check-in, a calm breathing check, a visit to log, a profile to admire.

Home

A calm morning dashboard.

The Today screen surfaces exactly what needs your attention — a gentle greeting, today's check-in status, your dog's latest BPM, and an early warning banner when breathing strays from the baseline.

  • Random greetings keep the screen feeling human
  • Multi-dog selector when your family grows
  • Alert banner when 7-day abnormal records rise

Daily check-ins

Three taps. Three dimensions.

Log breathing, water intake, and energy as good / okay / off. A streak badge rewards consistency. Notes capture the details — “shivered at dinner”, “barked through the night”.

  • Good / Okay / Off selector for each dimension
  • Streak badge after 3+ consecutive days
  • Optional freeform notes, always searchable

Breathing

Audio-assisted in 30 or 60 seconds.

Auto mode uses the iPhone microphone while your dog rests, then estimates breaths per minute on-device. Prefer the old-fashioned way? Manual mode lets you tap along to 15 / 30 / 60-second windows.

  • Microphone-based auto measurement
  • Quiet-room measurement guidance
  • Auto-saved with scenario tagging

Medical

Every vet visit, on a single shelf.

Log clinic, vet, reason (6 presets), diagnosis and notes. Icon-coded reasons make the list scannable. Free plan keeps up to 2 records; Pro lifts the cap and unlocks the PDF export.

  • 6 icon-coded reason types
  • Diagnosis and free-text notes
  • Export the full history as a PDF for your vet

Profile

A portrait that grows with them.

Name, breed (21 illustrated presets + custom), birthday, weight. A Wellness Score ring blends baseline adherence, check-in completion and recent abnormalities into one clear number.

  • 21 breed illustrations + custom breed
  • Live Wellness Score (20–100)
  • Birthday-driven age tracking
How it works

From quiet rest to BPM. Four simple steps.

AuraDog's audio breathing checker runs on your iPhone — no cloud upload, no account, no complicated setup.

  1. 00 · rest

    Wait for quiet rest

Measure when your dog is sleeping or resting calmly. Avoid moments right after exercise, heat, excitement, or loud background noise.

    Step 1
  2. 01 · mic

    Place the microphone nearby

Hold your iPhone or place it beside your dog with the microphone about 1–3 cm from the nose. Keep your dog's head as still as comfortable.

    Step 2
  3. 02 · record

    Record 30 or 60 seconds

Auto mode listens for a short window and shows a simple waveform while it works. Use Manual mode if the room is noisy or the result feels uncertain.

    Step 3
  4. 03 · BPM

    BPM, compared to baseline

AuraDog estimates BPM, compares it with your dog's personal baseline, and saves it — all without sending your dog's health data to us.

    Step 4
iPhone microphone placed close to a resting dog's nose for an AuraDog breathing measurement

Measurement setup

The phone can be handheld or placed beside the nose.

Use AuraDog when your dog is resting, ideally sleeping, and the room is not too noisy. Keep the iPhone microphone close to the nose, about 1–3 cm away. Automatic measurements can be imperfect, so repeat with Manual mode when a result seems doubtful.

AuraDog is not medical advice and its breathing results are not clinical results. If your dog seems unwell, is breathing with effort, or you are worried, contact a licensed veterinarian.

FAQ

Good questions, honest answers.

Is AuraDog a medical device?

No. AuraDog is a home observation and record-keeping tool, not a medical device. Breathing measurements are estimates for reference only, and the PDF report is designed to support, not replace, a veterinarian's clinical exam.

What is a dog resting respiratory rate?

A dog resting respiratory rate is the number of breaths your dog takes per minute while calm, relaxed, or asleep. Veterinary references commonly describe resting ranges around 12–35 BPM for many dogs, but your dog's own baseline and your veterinarian's guidance matter most.

How does AuraDog measure dog breathing rate?

AuraDog Auto mode uses your iPhone microphone for an audio-based breathing check. Use it when your dog is resting or sleeping in a quiet room, keep the head as still as possible, and place the microphone about 1–3 cm from the nose for a 30- or 60-second recording.

When should I contact a veterinarian about breathing changes?

Contact a veterinarian if your dog's resting breathing rate is repeatedly higher than their normal baseline, if breathing looks labored, or if you notice weakness, coughing, blue-tinged gums, collapse, or other signs of distress. Do not delay veterinary care because of an app reading.

Can AuraDog help me prepare for a vet visit?

Yes. AuraDog helps you organize breathing rate checks, daily wellness notes, vet visit records, and context over time. You can export a vet-ready PDF report to make conversations clearer, while your veterinarian remains responsible for diagnosis and treatment.

What breeds are supported?

All breeds. AuraDog includes 21 hand-drawn breed illustrations, and dogs outside that list can still use every feature with a warm default illustration.

How private is AuraDog?

AuraDog is designed to be private by default. There is no account system, no iCloud sync, and your dog health records are stored locally on your iPhone. Microphone access is used for breathing checks, while camera or photo access is only for profile photos.

How will AuraDog Pro billing work?

When AuraDog is available on the App Store, AuraDog Pro subscriptions will be billed through Apple's App Store with monthly and yearly options. You will be able to manage or cancel subscriptions from Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
